Saturday was a great day to geek out and give back. Paula and Barry hosted the Mandalorian Mercs at their shop from noon to 4 p.m. the event was called Austin’s Autism Service Dog Dollar Drive. Loyal customer and fellow geek, Tim Keaty brought more than 2500 comics and sold them for $1 each. A bargain to be sure, especially because Tim was offering quite a few comics that came complete with artist and writer signatures.
Paula, being the awesome person she is, gave the Mercs and Keaty the run of the shop for the four hours, there was even a place for people to take pictures with the armored warriors. The Mercs were all in high spirits and honored to support this cause. By the time I left the shop Paula, Barry and Tim had raised $321 for Austin’s service dog. Austin’s mother, father, and sister even dropped by to take some photos and thank everyone for their support.
If you feel you’ve missed out on an opportunity to help and get some awesome comic buys, don’t worry. Tim has agreed to keep the comics out for customers until the end of July, still available for $1. Please stop by and donate. Austin and his family are just $2,000 shy of their $15,000 goal. You’ll be giving a local family a chance a better life and have a chance to get some epic comics at ridiculous prices.
